Sweet Side or Savory Side
Most tables split down the middle on this one. Going savory, the Royal Bavarian Benedict is hard to argue with: poached eggs on a grilled English muffin over seared Black Forest ham, under a hollandaise we make with whole grain German mustard and chives. Sweet tooth, and it’s Bananas Foster French Toast, caramelized bananas flamed in rum with cinnamon over the lot. Chicken and Waffles sits somewhere between the two camps. Want plain? The Copper Mug Sunrise is two eggs your way with potatoes and toast. Skipping animal products, ask for the Garden Tofu Scramble.
What a Rotating Buffet Actually Means
Fair question, because plenty of places say rotating and mean the same three trays every week. Ours really does move. Between May 3rd and November 1st our chefs put out something different each Sunday, so June won’t look like September, but the staples you turned up for don’t vanish on you either. It runs all morning rather than in sittings, so nobody is timing your table. Coffee drinks and cocktails come with it, plus the countryside through the windows. And yes, we build the Bloody Mary to order.
Mother’s Day and Bigger Tables
Once a year we move brunch up to the Marta Louise Ballroom for Mother’s Day and run it from 10:30 to 3:00 with a menu of its own, carving station and all. Adults are $39.99, children four to twelve are $24.99, and under threes eat free. A card holds the reservation and it does sell out, so don’t leave it late. Any other morning, if you’re bringing a crowd, we’ll set out a custom buffet or a plated breakfast in one of our private event spaces and give your group a room of its own.
If You’re Staying the Night
Waking up at Landoll’s Mohican Castle has its perks. We’re a short walk from the suites, so nobody has to drive anywhere before coffee, and there’s coffee and tea in the room if you want a cup before you come down. The pool house opens at 9:00 for a swim afterward. The Crown & Cauldron Mercantile sits just below us and sells the jams, sauces and spice blends we make in our own kitchen. Groups can add a private tour of Heyd Cemetery and Jacob Heyd’s cabin as well.
