Not every couple wants two hundred guests and a seating chart to argue over. Some just want to get married somewhere that feels like somewhere. A castle elopement in Ohio is something we do two different ways, and both of them happen here at Landoll’s Mohican Castle, out in the woods above Loudonville. Small, quiet, and properly looked after on the day. No hall to fill and no second cousins you’ve never met standing at the back. Here’s how each one works, and how to tell which suits you.
Couples can elope or hold a micro wedding at a castle venue in Loudonville, Ohio, set in the woods with a terrace, waterfall, and pergola. The micro wedding is all inclusive for up to 34 guests, a coordinator guides planning, and on-site suites let guests stay overnight.
Small Weddings and Elopements at Landoll’s Mohican Castle
Two packages, both built around a short guest list and a day that doesn’t need managing by committee. Our weddings page covers the bigger celebrations. This one is for the small ones.
Elopement or Micro Wedding
They aren’t the same thing, so it’s worth knowing which you’re asking about. Our elopement package runs Sunday through Thursday and suits couples who want the day stripped right back to the two of you. The micro wedding is the fuller version. It’s held in the Mary Frances Banquet Hall, takes up to 34 guests, and it’s all inclusive, meaning setup, clean up, your ceremony site and a planning meeting with a site tour are in the package rather than added on later. Standard hours on those days run from 9 in the morning until 9 at night, and staying on later is possible for an extra charge.
Where You’ll Actually Say It
The Terrace sits below the castle among the natural gardens, with the waterfall running behind you. You’ll exchange vows under a wooden pergola with trees overhead, so nobody spends the ceremony squinting into the sun. There are two ways to walk in and couples get properly invested in choosing between them, the Waterfall Entrance or the Long Walk. If the sky opens, we move you into Mary Louetta Pavilion, which is covered and heated with clear siding that pulls down. Come winter, the Mary Frances doubles as a chapel and holds up to 60.
Who’s Looking After You
You’re assigned a coordinator, and they stay with you the whole way through. Vendor list, floor plan, timeline, equipment choices, menu tasting, the rehearsal and the day itself, that’s all theirs to carry. Josh Armstrong, Chelsea Means, Kate Wallrabenstein and Mary Waugh make up the team at Landoll’s Mohican Castle, and you can read about each of them on our wedding team page. Once you’ve booked, our guest portal keeps every conversation, your event order, timeline and floor plan in one spot, payments included. The full list sits under what’s included.
What Happens After the Vows
Small doesn’t mean short on food. The Micro Wedding package includes three appetizers from the Tapas Menu. Private custom buffet or plated dining options can also be arranged in one of our private event spaces. There’s a premium bar package with a bartender and four hours of service, along with upgraded linens, centerpieces, and a microphone and speakers if you want them. Your night finishes in a Stables King Suite. There are 33 suites to sleep across the property, right up to the 2-Bedroom and 3-Bedroom French Country Villas, so your people can stay over as well.
Conclusion
We’re not a barn and we’re not a hotel function room. Orbitz named us one of the top five castle wedding venues in America, we’re in The Knot’s Hall of Fame, and we’ve taken WeddingWire’s Couples Choice award eight years running. So if you’re weighing up small wedding packages in Ohio and you’d rather enjoy the day than survive it, come and walk the terrace with us before you decide anything. Send an inquiry through the weddings page and Kate will pick it up, or book a tour and see it yourself. Ask us about a private guided walk up to Heyd Cemetery and the 1830s cabin for your group while you’re at it.
